The spare wheel for all Storm Series builds must be mounted on the rear floor or removed from the vehicle. This is due to the affect the wheel has on the stability of the vehicle during the swerve test.

Like many options like internal draw systems, roof racks etc we offer the spare wheel to be mounted on the rear of the vehicle. This is added after the engineering process and is outside the engineering scheme.

The spare wheel can be placed in 2 positions in the Storm series builds..

1: Discovery Series 1 or 2. The spare wheel is re hung off the rear door using a custom rear door frame to reposition the larger wheel more centered and higher to give clearance off the rear bumper

2: For Discovery Series 1 or 2 and Range Rover the spare wheel is placed under a steel framed wooden false floor keeping it secure in case of an accident. This takes the weight off the rear axle and balances the overall vehicle weight. The internal cargo area is reduced but we ensure all space around and inside the spare wheel in available for storage.

For Range Rover builds that require more internal storage the spare wheel can be hung off the rear bar assembly from a swinging arm / wheel carrier. If you wish to take up this option you will need to select External Wheel Carrier from the Additional Enhancements or CLICK HERE.
